High School Econ Teachers:
The Georgia Council on Economic Education is partnering with Georgia-Pacific to deliver a week-long summer institute for high school econ teachers and we are inviting teachers from states that have Georgia-Pacific facilities to apply. Indiana qualifies.
Spend a week in Atlanta learning more about economic concepts including opportunity cost, specialization, market economies, free enterprise, monetary and fiscal policy, entrepreneurship, and international trade. The goal of the Summer Institute is to increase participant knowledge of these economic concepts while equipping attendees with grade-appropriate lesson plans and ready-to-use classroom materials designed to help teach important economic concepts in innovative and effective ways. Each participant will leave with a greater understanding of how the U.S. economy works and the important role entrepreneurs play in a market/free enterprise system.
The program will be conducted by Georgia Council staff and a master teacher consultant who will work to improve understanding of economics, entrepreneurship, and the free enterprise system.
The Summer Institute will include visits to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Chick-fil-A corporate headquarters, High Road Ice Cream, the newly-renovated State Farm Arena (or other similar businesses), and guest speaker sessions from members of the Georgia-Pacific family.
APPLICATIONS ARE DUE ON OR BEFORE MARCH 31, 2019. Applicants will be notified of their selection status on April 19, 2019.
