| Workshop Description: |
FOR WHOM: All 3-12 teachers interested in integrating energy, economics, and the environment into the curricula.
CREDIT: Three semester hours of Ball State University graduate credit, Economics 581: Workshop on Economic Education, can be earned upon successful completion of the workshop.
COST: $150 application fee. Payment must accompany the application form. The general fee for three credit hours will be paid by the Center for Economic Education through a grant from the Indiana Council for Economic Education and Indiana Michigan Power. The Graduate Admissions Office may assess a fee to the accepted applicants which they will pay directly to that office. Registration will be done online from the site listed on the form accompanying Letter of Acceptance. This process must be completed prior to the first day of class. Remember - Title II and Title V “No Child Left Behind” monies may be used to cover the cost of this workshop. Check with your principal!
OVERVIEW: Instructors and speakers from various companies and agencies share their expertise to integrate the topics of energy, economics, and the environment for the participants. Classroom presentations, panels and facility tours combine to present this topic so teachers can develop learning experiences for their students.
OBJECTIVES: Participants will:
- Prepare activities to teach the economics of energy or of the environment;
- Identify relevant resources for energy and environmental education;
- Submit an in-service plan for presentation to school peers; and
- Prepare list of resources to be used to teach economic concepts identified in the workshop.
APPLICATION: - Send in application form by May 7, 2010.
- Applicants will be notified of acceptance by letter dated May 14, 2010.
- Course registration will have been completed prior to the first session.
