Workshop Description: The Council for Economic Education, NY, is pleased to offer free professional development webinars for teachers nationwide. The webinars cover multiple topics on how to integrate personal finance and economics in the classroom and create a fun learning experience for your students.

Balancing the Federal Budget - In 2010, the U.S. national debt was around $13.5 TRILLION. Since then, it has nearly doubled to $20.6 TRILLION in only eight years. Why is the federal budget an important topic for young people to learn about? What is the impact of deficit spending on their financial lives? How do we balance the federal budget? In this webinar, participants will explore these questions, and learn about the related CEE resources.

Session Presenter: Gabriel Tanglao started his teaching career at Bergenfield High School, located in one of the most culturally diverse communities in the state. Beyond the classroom, Gabriel has advised the National Social Studies Honor Society, Model United Nations, and served as a STEM Mentor to help cultivate the next generation of student leaders. Gabriel currently teaches U.S. History I Honors and AP U.S. History at "Bergen Tech" in Teterboro, NJ. He earned an MA in Economics Education from the University of Delaware, an MS in Teaching, and a BA in Political Science from Pace University.

When you attend the webinar, you will leave with relevant lessons, resources and tools that can be implemented the next day. If you are interested, but cannot attend the live webinar, please register to get access to the archived version.
