Workshop Description:

Attention Middle and High School Teachers:

The Purdue Center for Economic Education is hosting a professional development series entitled, "EconVersations." You won't want to miss the upcoming Fiscal Responsibility: Should We Balance the Budget? program on October 17, 2018 from 5:15 pm to 7:30 pm at MCL Cafeteria, 521 Sagamore Pkwy W., West Lafayette, IN 47906.

Dr. Phil VanFossen, Associate Director, Purdue Center for Economic Education and James Ackerman Distinguished Professor of Social Studies Education, will provide an overview of the Federal budget, national debt, deficit spending, and economists' perspectives on fiscal responsibility. Dr. VanFossen willa slo explore curriculum and resources available for teaching these topics.

Plus, Mr. Scott Smith, Government and Economics teacher at Benton Central JrSr High School, will demonstrate lessons and activities that teachers will use in the classroom to help students develop critical thinking skills, understand the trade-offs of public policy, and develop the ability to articulate their own positions.
