Please join the Indiana Council for Economic Education and the IU Northwest Center for Economic Education as we host the professional development workshop, "Everyday Economics for Elementary Grades" on November 7, 2018 at Indiana University Northwest School of Business & Economics, Dunes Medical Building, Gary, IN.

Register for Morning or Afternoon sessions or BOTH sessions!

The morning session will consist of learning about The Classroom Mini-Economy including curriculum integration, classrom management, application of basic skills, and money management.

The afternoon session, Teaching History and Economics Through Reading, will feature fun new ways to teach economics through children's literature and will include popular children's books such as:

  • The Lemonade War, by Jacqueline Davies
  • Uncle Jed's Barbershop, by Margaree Mitchell
  • Because of Winn Dixie, by Kate DiCamillo
  • Lawn Boy, by Gary Paulson
  • Beatrice's Goat, by McBrier & Lohstoeter
  • What Pet Should I Get?, by Dr. Suess
  • A New Coat for Anna, by Harriet Ziefert

There is no cost to attend the workshops plus participants will receive:
