Attention Middle and High School Teachers:
The Purdue Center for Economic Education is hosting a professional development series entitled, "EconVersations." You won't want to miss the upcoming Tariffs, Employment, and the Dollar as a World Currency program on March 20, 2019 from 5:15 pm to 7:30 pm at MCL Cafeteria, 521 Sagamore Pkwy W., West Lafayette, IN 47906.
Dr. John Sanders, Professor of Agricultural Economics at Purdue University, will provide an overview of the effects of the U.S. policies on tariffs on imports such as steel and aluminum. How will these tariffs impact U.S. exports, employment, interest rates, and stock values? Have similar tariffs been tried in the past and what was the result? Dr. Sanders has taught at Purdue since 1983 and is the author of over 100 professional publications, including his recent policy brief, "The Effects of Tariffs on the U.S. Economy" co-authored with Dr. Larry DeBoer.
In addition, Purdue Center for Economic Education staff will demonstrate lessons that teachers can use in the classroom immediately, providing students a better understanding of international trade and tariffs and more.
There is no cost for educators to participate, but advance registration is required by Noon on March 19th! Click on "More Information" below or go to "webreg" below to register now.
